Is Change Good?

Happy Monday All! I hope everyone had a great weekend. I won't say mine was great, but it was, what it was.

I had reserves all weekend. I still love the Army, but it seems it is all going down hill. I'm not talking about Senior Leadership. I am talking about the new soldiers, and ones that think they know everything. When we are there for a reserve weekend, we have to get everything done that an active duty unit would have an entire month to do. Classes, paperwork, on-line training, drivers training, and finally job training all need to be done in a two day period. What does this all mean? It means that we need everyone, not just one or two soldiers to pull their weight. Everyone there signed the papers and there is seriously a lot to do.

A lot has changed since my last time in. Younger soldiers seem a lot less disciplined. They think they know everything, but really they know nothing. They want to come to drill out of uniform, and they want to be promoted. They think that just because they can pass a PT test, they deserve to be promoted, not taking into consideration everything else that goes into the military. They think coming into drill clean shaven, but sitting around and reading a newspaper will make them Command Sergeant Major. News flash kiddies, there is so much more to the life than just showing up. Theres discipline, theres personal grooming, theres being half way fit (at least enough to pass a PT test), theres knowing enough to know that you don't know everything, theres being accountable for yourself, theres classroom learning, as well as home computer leaning you need to do. All of this, besides knowing your job, are all parts of being in the military. You signed the papers, so that means that for 6 years, you will eat, sleep, and breathe the military process. Get used to it.

Well, I'm done for today. I hope everyone has a great day!
