Truths

Well Happy Friday All!!!!! Its here! Yet another busy weekend that will find me at the Moose Lodge for yet again, most of the weekend! I seriously think I spend more time there then I do at my home. Its OK, we are doing good there....

Well today I started thinking about things people have told me or said to me in the last 32 years or so. Well I would like to tell everyone a little bit about them, I may ramble, and there may be no point to this essay, but eh, its what I feel like putting on paper.... That all being said, you have been warned, enjoy....

- I am a very bad person- Well I wasn't quite sure what this person meant by this back in the day. Some of the things I USED to do may have been questionable, but like the name of this blog, I regret nothing. I did what I did, and I learned from it. I actually think I am a very good person, sort of a Robin Hood type, because I will defend everyone that needs it.

- I am a manipulative bastard- Oh boy, the things an ex says while angry. I don't manipulate, I suggest, you have your own mind, use it.... I wont hold it against you. Part 2, I know my father so this entire statement is just false.... Sometimes you just have to laugh at the things people say.

- You are really good with words- I have heard this a few times. I'm sort of like a championship football game with words. Looks great on paper, but sometimes the game in real life is sort of blah. I can promise you one thing though, everything I say is extremely truthful, and always from the heart.

- You are just a Teddy Bear- Yea a Teddy Bear that will rip off your neck and shit down the hole it created. I'm a lover, not a fighter, but I have my skills and I know how too use them. I would much rather talk my way out of a fight, then throw fists. However, if the need arises, I know how to use them.

- Your a firecracker- OK, so sometimes I have a bit of a temper. I have been working on this very hard the last few years. The only time I get really bad is when I am in my car and have to deal with dumb people who can't drive. Problem with that is my commute every day (To and from) lasts from anywhere between 2 and 4 hours... That's a long to be in a car angry,,,

- Your too quiet- If you are saying this too me theres one of two reasons. 1) You don't know me, because all of my friends know that I hardly ever shut up. or 2) I just don't like you. Now there are certain times when I am extremely quiet, that's first thing in the morning before I have had my coffee, when I'm tired (talking takes energy you know), or if I am looking at something that doesn't require words (Sunset, beautiful scenery, hot woman at the bar, etc. you get the point).

- You are afraid of Redheads- Hmmmmm, redheads...... OK, so this one is a little touchy. I'm not afraid of them. I just haven't found a hideous one yet. They are my kryptonite, and I get a little tongue tied when I am around them. It happens. I am getting better at it. However, some redheads are evil and need to be dealt with accordingly (just kidding). I have gone out with gingers before (most of which were bottle red). It happens, everyone gets an equal opportunity.

Well that's all everyone! I hope you have a great weekend!!! I know I will! Remember you only live once, make the most of today, because you aren't promised tomorrow!

Hello Refs!!!

Wow, did Thursday sneak up on us or what? I had a fairly easy night last night with a lot to do.

Well as most of you know, in most states, you have to be TIPs certified to be a bartender (In Maryland you have to have one TIPs person in the bar, except the Moose Lodge requires all of our bartenders to be certified.). Well last night, I took the "3" hour class, and unless I failed the test (If I did fail, the instructor promised to take me out back and kick my ass....) I will be certified to tend bar anywhere in Maryland, and other states that accept TIPs!

Why is this all significant?

Well for the first part, it will help when I finally get off of my ass and open the bar. I WILL go back to school next semester (Barring any setbacks, like being deployed or anything)! I am going to finish getting my business degree.... Once again, for the bars sake.... Are we seeing a point yet?

After losing all of this weight, I have realized I can do anything and I will succeed.... Its too easy. All I have to do is not be lazy. Sort of like this upcoming PT test. I may not pass the first one, I'm going to try my best. However, I will pass eventually, then I will never fail another one again.

I'm determined... Whether its life, love, or anything else, I will achieve all of my goals!!!

And just a side note- WELCOME BACK NFL REFS!!!! We all missed you! I like to think it was my letter that did the job, but it was probably the 70,000 phone calls the NFL offices received on Tuesday morning!

Everyone have a great Thursday! Tomorrow we will all rejoice in another Friday, but lets get through today first!!!

Hump Day

Happy Hump Day All!!!!! Half way through the week. We are almost there....

Why can't life be easy? Every day we face new challenges, if you want to do something, or be anything, life can be difficult at times. The goal is to just keep pushing through until ultimately you retire (if you are lucky), the before you know it, life is at its end, and you are saying, "Where did it all go?".

Every day, I put my life out there, and have given people a look into my success, struggles, and anything else I can possibly think of. In turn, I have also kept quite a few things from people, because, well, I need a little sense of privacy. I never put any names in my blog, because I don't want to put things out there that people may not want to be associated with. This is my choice, and trust me, if my friends want you too know it was them, then I guarantee they will let you know in some way shape or form....

Where am I going with all this?

Good Question, I want people to ask me questions. If I don't want to answer them, I won't. I promise I am pretty open about almost everything. I need material for blogs, theres only so much I can talk about current events and my daily boring ass life. I don't want to bore your pants off (unless you are a woman between the ages of 21-34, then we can talk about pants coming off).

This blog is a great release for me. I want people to know me. You only live once, and I am not only hear to entertain, but if I can help just one person, even just inspire one, everything is worth it. I put myself out there so others won't have too, and if questions will help, then lets do it!!!

Well everyone enjoy your day! Peace, Love, and Happiness!

The Letter to The Commish

Dear Mr. Goodell,

Good Morning Mr. Goodell. My name is Sam Hassell, and I have been a fan of the NFL for the last 32 years (All my life). I would like to say that it is the greatest sport in the world, and may have even surpassed Major League Baseball as America's national past time. I look forward to every football season, even though I am a die hard New York Jets fan.

That all being said, I believe the state of the NFL is in dire need of being turned around. In the last few years, hitting has all but been taking out of the equation for the NFL. Skirts have been put on not only the Quarterbacks, but also the receivers and most of the offense. I understand the need for safety, and the helmet-to-helmet hits needed to stop, but horse collars? Come on now, please rethink this.

Now to the real reason for this letter. The NFL has become a joke with these replacement referees. If you wanted a season where anything can happen, then well you got it. With the ref's that are currently in place it has completely leveled the playing field, and that's not a good thing when you talk about the advantage they are giving teams. These guys can't even spot the ball correctly, and that is simple math. They don't know what penalties are what, we have seen an influx of "phantom" calls, and there have been extra time outs and challenges all over the place. Did these guys even watch football before they became a referee?

Please Sir, reconsider what is going on here. I love my NFL, but is it really worth watching if the game can't be played fairly? Are people going to be injured because they are playing even harder to overcompensate for bad calls? If you are truly trying to save the health of the players please either stop the season until you can come to an agreement with the union, or just pay the refs.

Respectfully,
Sam Hassell

Heart Attack

Well Happy Monday All!!!!

Lets start today off in a great mood! Only 4 more days till another fantastic weekend!

OK, now that that's out of the way, lets talk about football.....

UGH.... Most everyone that reads this blog knows that I am both a Die-hard Jets (NFL) and LSU Tigers (NCAA) fan. Well cheering for both of these teams can be a little trying at times. Lets start from Saturday nights game: LSU vs Auburn.... This game should have been a blowout. I like blowouts. They show me that my team can beat anyone, at any time. Now don't get me wrong, I like competitive games. However, I will take a 60-0 win any day over a 12-10 win (Final score for Saturdays game). You can't win a National Championship, if you can't win all the games... That's an almost fact for college football....

Now for the Jets.... Being a Jets fan is difficult at times. The first game they crushed the supposed to be good Buffalo Bills. Last week, they looked horrible against the Steelers who aren't looking very good themselves. This week.... The take the Miami Dolphins to Overtime... After Saturdays game, I didn't need another close one like that. However, We are 2-1 and I will take that.

These teams are going to be the death of me..... Here comes my heart attack, and I'm only 32.... It doesn't get any easier....

Hope everyone has a great week!!!!

Rubbing

Woo Hoo!!! Happy Thursday all! Today is my last day this week of the real job, tomorrow I go to in process into my Army Reserve Unit. Hopefully it doesn't take too long, the its home to work out, and then to the Moose to work both Friday night and Saturday.... Fun Stuff!!!

Well it seems as if some of my posts on here tend to rub people the wrong way.....

Guess What.....

I don't care....

This blog is a representation of my thoughts, ideas, and opinions. That's all it is. Its about me. Its a way for me to get things off of my mind.

I love it when people come back at me with their own thoughts and ideas. It makes me think harder about my view point.

The only hing I ask, and its not mandatory, please put your name on all responses. I won't think of anyone any less for stating their opinion, just as I expect the same from you. I go into everything with an open mind. Its the way life should be. When you close your mind, you close your thoughts, and you close the greatest tool you have!

Well all, have a great day!!!!

Do Work

Happy Hump Day All!!!!!!

Well we are getting there. Today I ran 2.25 miles in under my 2mile time on the elliptical. I don't know how that transfers over to outdoor track running, but I'm still proud. Why do I run a quarter of a mile more then needed you may ask... Because I want to train for more, just so that I'm not dying on the last lap of any event. IF this transfers over equally, my 15:30 two mile time will transfer to a score of 80. GO ME!!! Sorry, every so often I have to toot my own horn. My ultimate goal is to score a perfect PT test. I'm still a long way off, but its getting there.

Now since This is a me doing work type of blog today, I would like to touch on something that tweaks me just a little bit. All of these people that think welfare shouldn't be drug tested. I'm sorry, but if I have to get piss tested for my army paycheck, welfare should have to do the same. I want to know that my hard earned money isn't going towards drugs. Alcohol should be included in the test. If you can afford enough alcohol to piss hot, you sure as hell don't need to be getting the governments money.

I understand that people need welfare, but quite honestly, if you don't have the determination to get a job, and aren't trying, I don't feel sorry for you. I understand everyone goes through hard times, and that's why the money is there. However, If you are going to sit on the couch eating Krispy Kremes with your 18 children under the age of 12, Fuck you.....

Sorry for the soap box rant, but it needed to be said.

Have a great day all!!!!

Bucket List

Woo Hoo.... We got through yet another Monday! How is everyone feeling after that journey?

Happy Tuesday All!!!!!

Well last night as I couldn't sleep yet again, I was thinking. I am getting really good at hitting goals, so I decided that I am going to really start making a bucket list. I really don't think I am too young to start thinking about it, I just think it will give me a little extra time to finish it. I also will add things to the list as time goes by. Most of it is travel, and American dream like stuff, but hey, Its what I want to do.

Right now, off the top of my head, the list stands at:

1) Open up a bar
2) Take pictures in every US State and Territory (56 locations total, So far I have hit 17)... Now I don't mean go and visit, I mean physically take pictures in, and I would have to spend one night. If it was just drive through, I would have most of the list done already.
3) Visit Ireland, Australia, Italy, and England
4) Move down south.... Goal is Key West, but anywhere warm is good right now... Preferably south of North Carolina. I don't do cold weather well.
5) Learn how to play the Bass Guitar.
6) Finish writing a book.... I have started, just need to get a move on.
7) Own a new Harley
8) Own a deep sea boat (This will come when I move south and close to the water)
9) Find a good woman who wants to all of this with me...

Well I think that's all I have so far.... I'm sure before the end of the day there will be updates, but its a start! Hope everyone has a great day!

Another Monday

Well after another weekend, It time for Monday, and another countdown too another weekend.

4 days and a wake up till a day off.....

Well this last weekend I went camping. It was a great weekend, did some hiking, went to a brewery, and went to a winery. I'm really starting to like this camping thing. Not too sure about tents though, they get cold. However, staying in cabins are really nice. Next time, I think I'll go south instead of north..... Maybe....

Its The Great Frederick Fair week.... I am working parking at the Moose Lodge on Friday night and all day Saturday. Come out and see me! Its only $5 to park right across from the fairgrounds....

Well All Have a great week!!!

"Country Boy"
by Aaron Lewis

Well I grew up down an old dirt road in a town you wouldn't know
My pops picked the place up for 1500 bucks back in 1964

My grandfather was a drinker back in the day he put 'em down
But a war is known to change a man and the whiskey is known to change a man

But, that's not me
I rarely drink from the bottle but I smoke a little weed
I still live in the sticks where you wouldn't go
In a town of 1200 off an old dirt road
And a country boy is all I'll ever be

Now it's been 12 years since I sold my soul to the devil in L.A.
He said "sign your name here on the dotted line and your songs they all will play"

He set up shop on sunset, he put me up at the marquee
He said "you wanna sell a million records boy you better listen to me"

He said "change your style, whiten your smile, you could lose a couple of pounds
And if you want to live this life, you better lose that wife, do you need your friends around?"

I said, no that's not me
Cause the biggest things in life are your friends and family
And I like my jeans and my old t-shirts
And a couple extra pounds never really hurt
Cause a country boy is all I'll ever be

Cause Hank taught me just how to stay alive
You'll never catch me out the house without my 9 or 45

I got a big orange tractor and a diesel truck
And my idea of heaven is chasing whitetail bucks
And as a country boy you know I can survive

Now two flags fly above my land that really sum up how I feel
One is the colors that fly high and proud
The red, the white, the blue
The other ones got a rattlesnake with a simple statement made
"Don't tread on me" is what it says and I'll take that to my grave
Because, this is me
I'm proud to be American and strong in my beliefs

And I've said it before but I'll say it again
Cause I've never needed government to hold my hand
And I've said it before but I'll say it again
Cause my family has always fought and died to save this land
And a country boy is all I'll ever be

I love my country, I love my guns, I love my family
I love the way it is now, and anybody that tries to change it
Has to come through me, that should be all our attitudes
'cause this is America and a country boy is good enough for me son

Thirsty Thursday

Happy Thursday all!!!! No idea whats going on this weekend, all I know is that I am exhausted already and I still need to get through today and tomorrow....

Not much to say today so enjoy the song of the day:

"Closing Time"
by Semisonic

Closing time
Open all the doors and let you out into the world
Closing time
Turn all of the lights on over every boy and every girl
Closing time
One last call for alcohol so finish your whiskey or beer
Closing time
You don't have to go home but you can't stay here

[Chorus:]
I know who I want to take me home
I know who I want to take me home
I know who I want to take me home
Take me home

Closing time
Time for you to go out to the places you will be from
Closing time
This room won't be open till your brothers or your sisters come
So gather up your jackets, move it to the exits
I hope you have found a friend
Closing time
Every new beginning comes from some other beginning's end

[Chorus:]
I know who I want to take me home
I know who I want to take me home
I know who I want to take me home
Take me home

Closing time
Time for you to go out to the places you will be from

[Chorus:]
I know who I want to take me home
I know who I want to take me home
I know who I want to take me home
Take me home

Closing time
Every new beginning comes from some other beginning's end

Mind Blown....

Well Happy Hump Day ALL!!!!!

Its getting to be a little colder outside and I am already starting to miss the warmth and the beach. Woke up this morning, and the house was at 66 degrees with the thermostat set much higher... Oh well, I guess I knew the weather couldn't stay warm forever.... I was just hoping for a little longer that's all....

Anyway, even though every September 11th is a sad day for everyone, I got a little weirded out yesterday. Ok, so maybe I was down right mind blown.... On of my Ex's showed up to my door yesterday. Congratulations you are now a topic of yet another one of my posts. You came over to apologize for everything, and really I appreciate that, and I wasn't lying when I said I didn't hate you. Hating you would mean that I had any type of emotion toward you at all, and I don't. I have moved on. I do however want to thank you for setting me in the direction that I have set in. My life couldn't be better.

Just goes to show.... Once you go Sam, you never go back! LMFAO

Ok, well that's enough of that.

I want to wish my father a very special Happy Birthday! If anyone needs any Real Estate in the Myrtle Beach area, give him a call (Don't worry, I'll call, I'm pretty sure you don't read the blog).

Everyone keep rocking! The weekend is almost here!!!

11 September 2012

Tuesday....

Every other week, its just the second day of the week. Today it is a day that has been renamed Patriot Day. It has been designated a national holiday, but we get no day off. Why, you ask? Its not a day to stop what we are doing, its a day to keep everything going, and to show the assholes who changed our world that we will not be phased.

We WILL Remember....

*Flashback*

9-11-01 0846- War is declared on America. This is done by running a plane into the side of one of our beloved landmarks....

*End*

On that day we lost 2977 people (Yes I took out the terrorist assholes from the number).

Since then, We have lost 5,921 American soldier due to the wars on terrorism.

Those scumbags who decided to take it on themselves to disrupt American living killed 8,898, and wounded another 42,673...

This is why we fight....

I know all of the time there is friendly banter between the services. Whether, Army, Air Force, Navy, Coast Guard, or Marines, We are all brothers and sisters fighting for the same reason.

So this will never happen again....

Every Day that I wake up, I know that I am living for a reason, I have left a mark on my body that every time I look in the mirror it stands out. It tells me "Sam, Do your best today, because you were given that chance. Do everything you can today, because tomorrow is not guaranteed. You are alive, get up, get out, make it happen."

So I do it....

For all of you who say that it was am inside job. Fuck You. Your allowed your freedom of speech, and so am I. I also wish that I can extend my freedom of speech and bitch slap you on the side of the head with a baseball bat....

Just Saying....

Well all, go hug a loved one, they are here today, and you never know if they will be tomorrow.

I will NEVER forget....

Will You?

Here we go yet again

Well Happy Monday All! Did you miss me??? Two weeks of vacation and I am back. Lots of catch up to do in the next few days, but I will be back to posting daily. Some may be short, some long, but they will be here!!!!

Well Vacation went way too quickly, but it was the break I needed. I got to spend some quality time with family, old friends, new friends, and pure strangers. Exactly what I needed. I did end up over drinking a few nights, but I didn't do Liquor like I had said (Yay Me!!!). However, now I am back to hard core diet, and exercising. I have a PT test to pass in the next couple of months, and being a fat ass wont help (I gained 6.5 lbs while I was on vacation, this is due to great home cooking, and me just not caring while I was away.... Exercise was few and far between, but I worked it in). All-in-all, It was an excellent 2 weeks, but its good to be back. I have a life to take care of, even though I want to move that life to the beach. Who's coming with me???

Well That's all for the moment, I hope everyone has a great week!!! 5 more days till the weekend!!!!
