It Happens...

Happy Friday All! I hope everyone is ready for an exciting fun filled weekend!

Well, last night the little wrench light came on in my truck. Last Tuesday, I broke my Mustang and haven't been able to fix it yet. So I have successfully broke 2 cars in one week. Now I am driving a VW Jetta, which I got from Enterprise rental care.... Its not a bad car, but it isn't my vehicles...

Here's my weekend, not very exciting, but hey, its life:

Friday- Work, then hopefully picking up my truck. Then I have to get my uniforms ready for the weekend.

Saturday- Army Drill, not sure whats on the schedule yet. Afterwards I am going to stop by the ride for Alex. Its a benefit poker run we have every year for my friends baby.

Sunday- Army Drill part 2. Hopefully we won't be out too late.

Whats Going On

Happy Thursday All! Well, another day at that thing called work. Looks like its going to be a long day, but all I have to do is push through this weekend, then next weekend I will be at the beach with my family. Its going to be a great time.

Last night, I spent it celebrating the girlfriends birthday early. It was a really good time with her and her family. Crabs and beer, what more could I ask for?

Hump Day Already!

Happy Hump Day All! Another great day to be alive if I do say so myself. Great thing about short weeks is that they go by so quickly. I have also realized that I don't have a full week of work until mid-July. Basically its all filled with Dr.'s appointments, surgery, and disability, but hey, I will take it where I can get it!

Well, the Mustang is out of commission until I can fix the wiper motor. Easy fix, when I get time. Maybe it will be a project for when I am out of work for those three weeks. I'm going to need something to keep me busy between the recovery and the Dr's appointments...

Well, I don't have too much to say today. Life is great and I couldn't ask for anything else (other than knees that work, but that's coming). I have an awesome woman in my life, My job is good (commute still sucks, but it is what it is), and just life in general is great.

From Heaven to Hell

Well, its back to work... I would say Happy Tuesday, but today is far from awesome. I will get into that a little later. However, the day is still young, and there is time to turn it around.

Had a great weekend though. Here it is:

Friday- Left work a little early to go home and pack for camping. Sat in holiday traffic for a few hours, but I already knew that was coming. After packing the truck, I went and picked up my beautiful girlfriend, and her friend and we headed up to the campground. Hung out, drank a little, froze my ass off in the tent, then passed out.

Saturday- Woke up early, and hung out with her and her family for a few hours, then we drove back. We lost a folding chair on the way back, which I still have no idea how that flew out. After dropping her off at home, I went home and just relaxed the rest of the day.

Sunday- Happy Birthday to me. Got up early like usual, washed the car and truck, then went down to Ft. Detrick to pick up a few things. Stopped by Home Depot to say hello, then went home. By the time I got there, some friends were ready to head to the bar to celebrate. Lots of good bands, good people, and a whole lot of fun. When I got back home, I ended up going to my neighbors house for a couple more beers, then it was time to go home and pass out.

Monday- Woke up and did yard work. Definitely a good recovery day.

Then theres today.... Driving to work, a truck in front of my blew its engine. Oil all over the front of my car. Then when I got to work, my windshield wipers broke again... That's going to suck to change out the motor. Sounds like its still moving, but I think the screw sheered off again. Oh well, looks like I am going to be driving the truck until I can fix it...

Memorial Day

Well, Happy Friday All! I hope everyone has a nice long weekend. Just remember, this holiday wasn't created just for parties and BBQ's. It was created to remember the sacrifices that our services have given throughout time. So as you are eating those burgers and hot dogs, thank a veteran, it may mean the world to them.

Last night was a great night. I got to spend a good amount of time with my little lady. We started off by going and getting tadpoles and fish. Then we went fishing until about 10pm. I'll tell you what, its going to be a long day, but it was worth every minute that I got to spend with her.

Well, here's my tentative plans for the weekend. This plans will probably change a million times, but here we go anyway!

Friday- Work, then home to take a short nap. Tonight, we are either going to the drag strip, or camping with her family.

Saturday- Wake up, either drive home and start yard work, or just start... All depends on where I am at the moment. Its going to be a nice relaxing day for the most part.

Sunday- Happy Birthday to me. Going to the Creekside Bar by my house to celebrate a little with the lady and a few of her friends.

Monday- Recovering from Sunday. Yes, I am to old for this stuff, but it is all well worth it.

Huh?

Happy Thursday All! We are just pacing along to a long weekend (which happens to be my birthday weekend, hint, hint). I hope everyone is having a great week! Just think this time tomorrow we will be thanking the lord for another Friday!

Well, as some of you may or may not know, I like to think of myself as a fairly smart individual. Don't ask me stuff about Nuclear Science and stuff, I know I'm not that smart.

My problem is, I tend to get confused easily by multiple items, sayings, pieces of information being thrown at me all at once, etc. If I ask you to explain something, don't go getting your undies in a bunch. You lost me somewhere along the way, and I'm trying to catch up. Most of the time, I get confused because I am over analyzing something, or you just weren't clear...

Well, that's enough of that.

Last night, I went and met my girlfriend for dinner at Ruby Tuesdays... Bacon Wrapped Shrimp... That's all I need to say about dinner, Lol... I love spending time with her, and we make the best out of every minute we get. Guess I will see her for a little while tonight, because I have her grill in the back of my truck. That should be fun driving on 270 with! Its all good, this is why I have the truck (other than fishing and snow).

Life is Good

Well, Happy Hump Day.... Sorry about my little rant yesterday, this whole thing is rather frustrating. When your body doesn't want to cooperate with your mind, it can get to you. I am glad that I have the support system that I do, because without my friends, family, and my special someone, I may just lose my mind.

That all being said, surgery is scheduled for June 13th. They wanted to do it this Thursday, but in all honesty, I have to get some stuff in order first, and I sure as hell don't want to be all gimped up on my birthday. Soooo.... I got the next earliest appointment.

Life right now, couldn't be better. I have a beautiful woman, who really likes me and care for me. You never realize how special the little things are until you start to get them.

I am still waiting to see if I will get promoted in the Army. The board meets on June 17th. I should know after that on what is happening. If I don't, I'll just have to do some more online classes and resubmit. These things take time, but I want the rank I think I have earned. I'm not going to change a thing, because even as a specialist, I take care of my soldiers. That's a major part of leadership. Take of the guys, get the job done, and the Army works like a dream.

At my civilian job, I am starting to be cross trained in Project Management, and System Engineering. This will allow me to further my career, and open many, many doors in the future. It will also get me out into the field more once my knee is better.

What more can I really ask for?

Happy Tuesday All... Well, I hope yours is good at least. Really mine is fine, I knew today was coming, but it doesn't mean I have to like it.

I went to have a little chat with my surgeon yesterday. After waiting for 3 hours to be seen, my only option left is surgery. I really was just hoping that the doctor would say "quit being a pussy, this is all in your head. Go run". Well, I'm fucked... They have to do an exploratory surgery because he isn't exactly sure whats causing the back of the knee pain, and while he is in there, he is going to fix all the front of the knee. I will be out of regular work for at least 3 weeks, and military type duties for six months (at least that's what the Dr says, Sorry Doc, but I'm out to prove you wrong).

This is bull-shit. I have worked my ass off to come this far. I feel angry, defeated, and really can't think of a bright side to any of it, other than in the end, I will be better. This puts everything I have worked for on hold. The whole time I was worried about others holding me back, and telling me I couldn't do something... In the end, its my own damn body that's telling me to slow down. Fuck you knees... I'll tell you like I tell everyone else, I'm not going to let you hold me back, nothing holds me back. I WILL GET BETTER!!!

The worst thing you can do to a soldier is take away their legs. No running? Yea right. Yesterday, I got my 6 week profile. It says I am un-deployable... That's the second worse thing you can tell a soldier. I joined the Army (twice now), to protect the world from flag burning hippies, because their sorry asses won't do it. I did it to keep freedom from terrorists, and to protect every right we have as a free country. Now, I am a broke dick. Don't feel sorry for me, I will defeat this.

In the end, I am thankful for the great support system I have. I hate to ask for help, but unfortunately, this time, I will have to ask. I won't even be able to do simple tasks, like mow the lawn, walk, etc. SO I am thanking all of my true friends now. I'll make it up to you all somehow, and thanks for putting up with my cranky, broke ass self. Anyone that has been in this much pain knows my deal...

New Friends, Old Friends, and Good times

Happy Monday All!!! Well, we have all made it through another weekend! I hope yours was as good as mine. Well, here it was, like every Monday post:

Friday- Work, then home to do some things. I was hoping to spend time with my beautiful woman, but that didn't happen. Its OK, Had to fix the toilet. It seems like every time I have someone visit from out of state, something in the house breaks. Oh well, easy fix. After I was done, I went and got dinner, then crashed out early.

Saturday- Well, the original plan was to go up to my brothers house bright and early. They were getting discharged from the hospital, so I decided to delay that until Sunday. So instead I drove down to Ft. Meade, to pick up a few things. Got back, took a nap, then it was time for parties. I had planned on attending all 3 parties that I was invited to. So I started at the girlfriends graduation party. Had a ton of fun playing beer pong, flip cup, and just getting to spend a day with her and her family. Afterwards, I was just so tired, and I knew that I had to get up early, so I just went home and passed out. Sorry for everyone that couldn't see me, but I tried if it makes any difference.

Sunday- Up bright and early to head to my brothers house. I met my nephew, went shopping with my little brother, then it was time to head home to get some cleaning and laundry done. I ended up falling asleep on the couch. Oh well, I got almost everything done, and theres the rest of the week to finish.

Well, that's all I have for today! I go to see my surgeon today to get the results of last weeks MRI. Wish me luck, I'm going to need it!!!

Friday- Work, then maybe spending time with the girlfriend. Well, I should put that as hopefully spending time with her.

Saturday- Up early to drive to Pa, to see my brother, his wife, and the baby. Then drive back home for a couple of parties. Its going to be a lot of driving, but will be well worth it in the end.

Sunday- Cleaning, Laundry, house and yard work. If anyone feels like coming over feel free.

Life Changes

Happy Thursday All! My parents come tonight, but I'm not sure if I will see them. They are going to come in late, but i am going to try and stay awake.

From time to time, I take a look back at my old blogs, just to see how far I truly have come. I looked at last years blog from today, and I can't believe how much has changed. The post was rather depressing, and even though I'm still not going to say what was on my mind, I don't think about that event anymore. Its funny that I can remember what it was about just by a song. That's the real reason for most of the songs on my blog. They mean something to me. Well, most of them at least. They are either about someone, something, or at least the last song I heard that morning. I associate the songs, mostly, with different people in my life.

Well, In the last few weeks and months, a lot has changed in my life. Lets take a brief look back:

Family- Well, as of yesterday I'm an uncle. I knew it was going to come eventually, and I am going to meet the little guy on Saturday. We are blessed to have a healthy baby boy come into this world. May his life be great, and him do great things.

Women- I finally found a great one. One who wants to be with me, and treats me pretty damn good. She worries about not having time for me, but I'm OK with what we get. It makes it that much more special when we do see each other. She has her head screwed on right, and in the end, I couldn't ask for anything else. If you are reading this Jenny, stop worrying so much. You are awesome, and everything is going to be fine. Any man would be lucky to have you, and I'm just happy I do. Smile!!!

Work- Well, I have been holding this in for a while, but I was within days of possibly losing my job. Not through any fault of my own, but they were going to move operations 25 miles away from me. That would put my commute at 75 miles one way, and I just couldn't afford the time or money to do that. In the end though, they decided to move the other building up here for the time being. I can stay here a little while longer LOL

Army- I put in my promotion packet last month. Promotion board is June 15. I should know if I got it by then. Lets keep our fingers crossed.

Health- My knee is killing me. I had the MRI done yesterday. Next Monday I will find out what we need to do. I guess losing all that weight may not have been the greatest thing for my body. I am starting back on my diet on Sunday. Jenny wants to do it too, so that may just be the push I need to lose this final 30lbs. I know, everyone is going to yell at me for losing more weight, but I'll never have a six-pack if its covered with fat.

New Life

Happy Hump Day all!!!! Well, the day has finally come, and I am an Uncle! Baby Gabriel was born this morning a little before 5am. Congrats to my brother and his wife! Your journey continues!

Well, tonight I have my MRI, then next Monday, we go and look at the findings. I really want this to be over with, so that I can start running again. My body needs to be in top shape for everything I do.

Last night, I went to my girlfriends Pinning ceremony. She graduated as a Surgical Tech last night, and was Valedictorian. All week she was nervous about the speech she had to give. Yup, just as I thought, she nailed it! She even quoted one of my favorite authors of all time, Dr. Seuss! Congratulations! You're awesome!

Tonight, I have a whole bunch of house work to do, because I have visitors coming this week. Hopefully, I'll get to sleep a little bit.... Eh, probably not, sleep is over-rated anyway!

Allergic to Green

Happy Monday All!!! Well, we had a nice, cold weekend at the range. If it isn't raining, we aren't training as the old saying goes. It was good to get away, at the same time, I could think of a million things I could have done here back home. Oh well, the life of a soldier.

I really am thinking that I am allergic to the color green though. Every time I put on that uniform, no matter what we do I come back exhausted, and could sleep for days.

Well, with nothing further, here is how the weekend went.

Friday- So I'm sitting at work, planning at leaving at 3pm. That would get me in Martinsburg in plenty of time (Formation at 6:30pm). Well, I get a text message and formation is changed to 5:45. OK, cool, so I'll leave a little early. Well, at the end of the message, it says I am not riding on the bus, and am driving one of our military vehicles to the range.... OK, so its going to take me a lot longer to get there than usual, I can deal with that.... Leave work at 2:15.... The highway is blocked, so I take the back way. Traffic... OK, so I may be a little late.. I call one of my Sgt's and let them know... I end up there at 5pm. Woo Hoo, I'm good lol... Grab our weapons, and we arrive at the range at about 11pm. Not a bad ride, just a lot of rain. We made it in one piece, so that's really all we can ask.

Saturday- See the thing about my schedule, and Army weekends, I actually get to sleep in on the Army weekends. Wake up was at 5:15am. Get dressed, cleaned, and head to breakfast. I won't get into what we ate, because I really can't remember. They also issued us our MRE (Meals-Ready to Eat). For those that know me, I basically refuse to eat that crap. 2500 calories in a bag, theres really nothing good about them, except for the candy some of them get. Its OK though, I grabbed some fruit for lunch (Good soldier right here). Well now it was time to ruck march out to the range... Bad idea for me, rough terrain and a torn meniscus don't exactly mix. Oh well, gotta do what I gotta do... Well, for those that have ever been in the military know that the ranges aren't covered like in the civilian world. It rained the entire time. I got my zero done in 6 shots. I qualified later on in the day. All the rest of the time I spent under the cover they provided, or in the truck getting warm. Its not my first rodeo, so I know the ins and outs of what we can and can't do. Ruck march back, dinner, then time to clean weapons. Bed time was a very welcome sight.

Sunday- Another sleep in morning (5:30 wake up). Breakfast, formation, then I had to drive another vehicle back. This one was even slower than the last, and the mountains of Cumberland were not kind to us. Got back to the Reserve center at around 12:30. Had a few things to do, then we were released at about 5pm. Stopped at Walmart to pick up some dressy clothes for tonight. I appreciate all the support everyone in Walmart showed. Many people stopped me to say thank you. I don't mind, but it makes for a long trip at Walmart, LOL. Went home, unpacked, ate dinner, and went to bed. I hope my stuff is dry before Mom and Dad get to the house on Thursday, Its sort of laid out all over one of the bedrooms.

Well, that's all... That is an Army weekend if anyone is thinking of joining. I left out the parts about the formations, endless joking, and locking one of my Sgts in a wall locker... But somethings are better left to the imagination!

Happy Friday All!!! Sorry I have been away for a while, but I have been traveling for work, and haven't had much time to write. However, I'm back! Did You miss me?!?!?

Life is great right now, and I don't thing I could ask for anything better! I have a great woman, great job (Other then the commute, which someday will be the death of me), and I'm just happy. I know, what you all are saying "Its about time", but hey, greatness takes time!

Well, with nothing further, Here's my weekend:

Friday- Work, then a special someone is meeting me for lunch. Then i drive down to the reserve center for a long extended weekend. We leave tonight to head for the range.

Saturday- Reserves and Range. I'm not too sure how its going to work with my knee being messed up, but I'm sure they will let me put some rounds down range either way.

Sunday- Happy Mothers Day! I'll be driving home from the range and back to the center. Hopefully, we won't be back too late, because I know we will all be exhausted. Oh well, either way, its a paycheck.

Well, that's all for the weekend. Here's an update on my knee. Dislocated knee cap and a torn meniscus. Hurts like hell, but I am driving on. I go for an MRI sometime next week, then we schedule surgery. Tons of fun awaits me. I want to thank all of my family and friends for all of the support they have given me, and keep it up, I am going to need it in the next few months!

Today is the Day

Happy Tuesday All! Even though I woke up with the biggest smile on my face, in the back of my mind, there is worry. Today, I go and meet my surgeon, and we decide what happens with my knee..

Now most of you are saying, "get over it pussy". and I sort of understand why you would say such a thing, but realize, my knees are my life. I can't be immobile, its not my life style... If I have to have screws put in my knee, its 2-4 weeks of bed rest... FUCK THAT!!!! These are things that I worry about, but in the end, I will be fixed, and I can run again...

On better news.... Well much better new, I now have a girlfriend. She's the smartest, most beautiful woman I know... I think I'll keep her around for a while. :).... She bagged herself a happy redneck. Ahh, its the simple things in life that make me happy!

Relaxing

Happy Monday All!!! I hope everyone is recovering from an awesome weekend! I know I am. What was supposed to be a completely relaxed weekend, turned into probably one of the greatest times of my life. Well, maybe not that good, but I really enjoyed the company.

Well, here it is!

Friday- Work, Then it was home to wait for my date for the evening. I don't typically go on real dates, and its been such a long time, I'm still not sure how the whole thing works. I have know this girl for years, but only really started talking a week or so ago. Now my dates, aren't exactly traditional (dinner and movies get boring), so we went to the river and went fishing. We did a lot of talking, and she completely out fished me. Final score 3-0.... Oh well, I was there for the company and to relax lol.

Saturday- Much needed yard work, and a little bit of relaxing. I broke the grill out for dinner, and cooked up some chicken and beef shish kabobs. Cost about $10 for all the food, I don't believe you can go to a restaurant and eat cheaper!!!

Sunday- Up bright and early to do a little cleaning. Then I drove down to get the brakes fixed on the Mustang. She's driving much, much better now. Then the plan was to head home, watch the race, then just relax... I quit celebrating Cinco de Mayo, a long, long time ago... Or did I? Well, the beautiful girl from Friday night wanted to see me again! So I met her at the BMX track by my house, then we went to Bernies and then Cancun Cantina. Had a few beers, walked her back to her car, then went home for the evening. It turned into an awesome day!!!

Could this be the start of something great? I guess we will just have to see.

I hope everyone had a great weekend! I have my surgery consultation tomorrow, and I'm hoping all goes well!

Another Weekend!

WOOOOOOOOOOOO HHHHHHHHHHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! HAPPY FRIDAY ALL!!! The weekend has almost arrived. I hope you all have some epic plans this weekend. Mine are pretty relaxing. Here they are as of right now:

Friday- Work, then fishing. I'm hoping to get to spend some time with a friend tonight, but either way the river is calling my name.

Saturday- Cleaning, yard work, and housework. I also may take a trip down to Bass Pro Shop. I like the hot sauce they sell there, and I'm almost out. Can you say Bacon Hot Sauce... That stuff is a little peice of heaven!

Sunday- Gym, then have to change the brakes on the car. Then home to do some real relaxing.

Pretty simple isn't it? This is the way life should be....

Time on the River

Happy Thursday! Can you smell that? The weekend is right around the corner. My plans on relaxing, and cleaning are on the horizon. I'm looking forward too it, I think I may even finish my house up!

I do know one thing though, I will spend at least one night on the river. Water rustling, smell of state park land, and a fishing pole. What more can you really ask for? Oh yea, nothing... Sometimes the best moments are spent out there. Whether you catch 100 fish, or nothing, its relaxing. You are left to your thoughts. No cell phone service is sometimes a blessing in disguise.

Life is good right now. Just remember, every breath you take, make it worth something, because you never know when it will be your last!

Welcome May

Well, hello May! Also, Happy Hump Day to all! Its been a busy last few days of work, so the posts have been short. On a brighter note, 25 days until my birthday! What are you gonna get me? LOL, Kidding all.

Hopefully May will bring the better weather we have all been searching for. It has still been a little too cold for my liking, but that's life. At least its not snowing!

Last Friday, I won an award at work for going above and beyond the call of duty. I guess getting here at 6am instead of 9am has its advantages.

My knee has been killing me the last few days. Day 4 of physical therapy is tonight, then I go and see the surgeon next Tuesday. I'm hoping we can get this fixed. I actually miss running, and no, I never thought I would ever say that.

Well, really that's all I have for today. I think I need to go fishing this weekend.....
