New Travels

Happy Monday All! As I sit here drinking my coffee, I am reflecting on the great weekend I just had. Pretty soon, I will start the long drive back. It is well worth every second of the 6+ hours on the road.

Well, that all being said, here is how my weekend happened!

Thursday- Well it was a good day to get up and leave. All of the sweethearts doing there thing, I was picking up a friend and heading down to Asheville, NC. We arrived down here at about 2130. Ended up at Denny's for dinner because it was the only thing still left open.

Friday- We got up early and went to the world famous Biltmore Estate. This mansion sits on over 8000 acres of land, and the home itself was over 4 acres. This place was enormous. After the tour, we went and ate at the Biltmore Bistro. Really good food, I would definitely recommend it if you are in the area. Then it was time to take the wine tour and go taste some new wines. Great experience, and I came out of there with enough wine to resupply my collection.

Now, it was time to go back to the hotel, and get ready for the night. For all of you asking about whether I was in a t-shirt like usual, the answer is no, I was looking pretty damn good (well I always look good, what can I say). We decided on the Bier Garden for dinner. 200+ beers, so it was time to experiment. I stayed with the dark beers at this bar, and I had the Kobe beef burger for dinner. It was a disappointment. We left there and went to TallGarys, down the street. This place was empty and confusing, but we hear they may have decent food. I stuck to the Shock Top beer here. Then we called the cab and headed back at about 2am.

Saturday- When we finally woke up, we decided to get lunch. Went to Barleys Pizzeria and Tap house. Excellent pizza, and a really nice beer list. I only had one to clear my headache. We then went to find some coffee. Found a gourmet place about a mile away. Excellent Coffee. Then we met a couple friends at a bar down the street, called Hannah Flannigans. It was a Bud Light day, and I wasn't drinking quickly. The waitstaff here wasn't very good, but the atmosphere was excellent. After being in there for a little, we went to Barleys again, but we went to the upstairs. Well, we found out where all the college kids go in this college town. It was fun, but its just not the same as it used to be. SO after splitting 2 pitchers between the 4 of us, we ended back at Hannah Flannigans. More beer, some food, and a very stoned waiter later, it was time to head back to the hotel.

Sunday- We decided to go hiking today. Went down to Chimney Rock. Not much of a hike, but the views were great either way. Lots of steps. I have some pictures for later. Then as we were leaving, we decided to just take a drive. After about an hour we decided to go to the Great Smokey Mountains National Park. This was about 100 miles away from our current location. Oh well, its what we do! We got to the park about 1400... We got as far as the visitors center because of a landslide that took the highway out. The park should be re-opened in May sometime. We then found a trail outside of the park on the Indian Reservation. Found a great little waterfall. I have some pictures of that to come later also! Then we decided to head back. For dinner that night we ended up at The BlackBird. I had scallops, veal, and a giant coconut cake for dessert. It was great, its another you should definitely check out if you are in town. Then it was back to the hotel, and I passed out by 2100.... Thats probably why I was up so early this morning!

Well thats all I have for today! I hope you all had a great weekend! I'll be back again tomorrow!
