Well its Thursday all, and we are so close to the weekend that I can smell it! Not too much planned this weekend, Lots of football, and a charity event or two, but I will get more into that tomorrow!
What I have been thinking about a lot lately is what do I really want to do and be when I grow up. I mean, I am 32 years old, so I should have some sort of direction, but that's where you are wrong. here are a few options I have been thinking of, and there is in no way I can do them all, because they are all full time jobs. Here they are:
1) Open a Restaurant/bar- This one has been on my mind for about six years or so. For those that don't know it, I am an excellent cook. I'm not just tooting my own horn, just ask anyone who has eaten my cooking. I also like watching people having a good time, while eating, watching the game, or just hanging out. So why not do it in a place that I own? The Restaurant would be more than just bar food. I would showcase what I cook best (I have already put together a first draft to the menu). The bar would be somewhere everyone can come and hang out, maybe shoot a game of pool, and socialize with friends. The problems I face with this are: They are expensive to start, fail rate is very high, and you have to trust everyone that works for you. My personal time would go down to zero, and my travel time would be diminished until the place was extremely successful.
2) Get a job as a National Park Ranger- This job has always sort of been on my mind. Work in the outdoors, educate people on the wilderness, and keep our parks and monuments safe. I would love to get a job at one of the seashore national parks, but these are a little harder to get in to. Drawbacks of this job are: They can send you anywhere, and we know how I feel about cold weather, I would take a substantial pay cut, and I would have to learn everything. Success rate is high, because well, its a government job.
3) Active Guard/ Reserve (AGR)- I bet you though me going active Army was squashed. Well obviously you don't know me that well! Just kidding. I'm thinking that when I get my WO1 rank of going AGR. This is just like Active duty, but you work for the Army. They can put you anywhere they need you, but I have seen a few people stay where they are. Maybe I can request somewhere warm... Drawbacks: that cold weather thing again, moving every 3 years or so, plus any other Active Duty Drawback.
4) Real Estate Agent- I'm sort of done thinking of this one. My dad a few years ago left his job, moved to Myrtle Beach, and started selling real estate (Let me know if you want to buy a house on the water). This would get me closer to my family. Drawbacks: Commission based job, expensive to start, I would be south and on the beach, but maybe not far enough south, and I just wouldn't know what the heck I am doing.
All in all, I need to make a decision soon. My job is nice, but I am tired of sitting in a car on a daily basis for 3+ hours. There more too life then just work and money. Happiness has to come into play at some point, right?
I know I have to make the decision myself, but please any insight or feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Have a great one all!!!! We are almost too the weekend!!!

I've told you this many times. I'll say it again. I love the restaurant/bar thing. You would have much success with this. You have the personality that will keep ppl.coming back. Word of mouth is a good thing. Trusting the ppl that work for u, yes, that is extremely important. You don't let anyone in ur life that u dont trust, so that's not an issue. Two, I love the Army thing. I come from a military family. It's AN AWESOME achievement and I.commend ones like you, my grandfather, brother, cousin, my friends already in ther service. I thank ALL SOLDIERS HERE AND GONE. The weather thing, yeah cold miggt be an option, but its tolerable. And if you move every three yrs, its not bad. Great job on everything you have accomplished!!!
