Well Happy Tuesday! This week is just cruising by, before you know it, Wednesday will be upon us! LOL
Those of you that have been following me, know that I am busting my ass to get everything out of the Army that I possibly can. In order to do this I have to first pass my PT test (Which I talked one of my higher-ups to give me in December. Today, like last Monday, I gave myself a trial run. I know I have the Push-ups and Sit-ups down, but the run has always been my biggest problem. Before you get your panties in a bunch, yes I am still working on those 2 categories, because I am not going to settle for the minimum. Today I ran my 2 miles in 17 minutes and 47 seconds....
I should be happy because I trimmed 46 seconds off of it in a week. Well, I'm not....
Its a fail by 5 seconds, and I won't be satisfied until I pass....
Sorry this is the way it is. My goal is too first pass the test (36 push-ups, 42 Sit-ups, and a 17:42- 2 mile run). Second I am going to shoot for 75 percent (51 push-ups, 55 sit-ups, 16:00- 2 mile). Then Finally I am shooting for a max PT score, which may or may not happen soon because of the run, but I have another 20 years to reach it (75 push-ups, 76 sit-ups, 13:18- 2 mile run).
Currently, I am at 51 Push-ups (score of 75), 50 Sit-ups (score of 69) and a 17:47 run (score of 59)...
Never has 5 seconds pissed me off more!!!!
Oh well, all I can do is keep rocking and it will happen. I do however think I will kick ass on this December PT test.... Hello rank ups!
Have a great day everyone!
Going the Distance
by Cake
Reluctantly crouched at the starting line,
Engines pumping and thumping in time.
The green light flashes, the flags goes up,
Churning and burning, they yearn for the cup.
They deftly maneuver and muscle for rank,
Fuel burning fast on an empty tank,
Reckless and wild they pour thru the turns,
Their prowless is potent and secretly stern.
As they speed thru the finish the flags go down.
The fans get up, and get out of town.
The arena is empty except for one man,
Still driving and striving as fast as he can
The sun has gone down and the moon has come up,
And long ago somebody left with the cup,
But he's driving and striving and hugging the turns,
And thinking of someone for whom he still burns.
He's going the distance.
He's going for speed.
She's all alone, all alone in her time of need.
Because he's racing and pacing and plotting the course,
He's fighting and biting and riding on his horse.
He's going the distance.
Yeah!
No trophy, no flowers, no flash bulbs, no wine.
He's haunted by something he cannot define.
Bowel shaking earthquakes of doubt and remorse,
Assail him, impale him with monster truck force.
In his mind he's still driving, still making the grade.
She's hoping time that her memories will fade,
Cause he's racing and pacing and plotting the course,
He's fighting and biting and riding on his horse.
The sun has gone down and the moon has come up,
And long ago somebody left with the cup.
But he's striving and driving and hugging the turns,
And thinking of someone for whom he still burns.
