Veterans Day

“I am a Veteran, as are most of my personal friends. A Veteran is someone, who at one point in their life, wrote a blank check payable to the United States of America for an amount up to, and including, their life. Regardless of personal or political views, there are way too many people in this country who no longer remember that fact...”
José N. Harris, MI VIDA

Happy Monday All! Even though the real Veterans day was yesterday, today, we observe it with a day off... Well most people do. I am at work, because I had the choice of either taking today off, or the Friday after Thanksgiving. Since my family will be up here for Thanksgiving, I chose then.

One thing that burns me up inside is the fact that people should be thanking Veterans every day. If you couldn't tell, I'm a little bit patriotic. I would do anything for this great country of mine. My job isn't for everyone, but those of us that do it have a certain sense of pride. I read somewhere that a little under 10% of Americans are Veterans. This means that we put our lives on the line for over 90% of the people.

I appreciate all of the businesses that give discounts and free meals on this national day of observance. Why isn't this happening EVERY DAY! I know Lowes and Home Depot do it, but how about everyone else? To some a 10% discount is nothing, to us, it means a lot more than just a few extra dollars in my pocket. It means you appreciate me, my brothers and sisters, and everything we have stood up and defended for so long.

So as you hang around the house today, think of a veteran, whether you know them or not. Shake ones hand, buy their meal when you go out to dinner. Sometimes we feel as if we do all of this for nothing, but some of us know why.

Well that's all I have...

I want to thank all of my friends, family, brothers and sisters who have served before and with me. We keep fighting, so others don't have to. We protect the weak, and honor our fallen.
